I've been trying to find some places in Dublin to see some.

Its going on top of underfloor heating

36 squared metres, got one quote which was 8.5k!

Nearly had a heart attack

Anyone know where to get them , and naturally where the deals are
How much should I be paying?

Thanks

Hey,
If i was you I would forget about getting them in dublin! Get internet trawling and try to import them from uk, or spain. I got a qoute for travertine tiles today for €9000 from right price tiles, but just found a stone place in england that will deliver them to my door(€300) and under €1000 for the tiles. It's astonishing!!

Thanks Suzie

that is a crazy price! However I would really like to do the buisness in ireland though, support our own, but within reason in terms of price

Ahh , when i was looking for wooden flooring i couldn't get any of the mainstream floor dealers to even give me qoutes on wide floor planks ! Didn't do them etc, so your market is limited from the start, maybe try salvage places or old houses up for auction (most older houses have the wider planks) if someone is going to re-furb they might let you take the floor for cheap! some work involved though! Good luck anyhow!

You could try Timber Factors.

They won't have them in stock but will cut and machine them for you.

I'll get the number and edit into this post in a second

And the number is 018472216

I'm sure you have done the research, so forgive me if I'm telling you something you know already.

In general, one is advised not to put solid wood on U/FH. However, I did, and I've had no problems. The only concession I made to the naysayers was to use a narrower, rather than wider board, because it gave the wood more scope to move without warping the timber. Maybe old 7" planks would be stable enough.

You could try Wilsons in Belfast. They seem to have lots of very good salvaged wood.

Try Irwins in Castleblaney. They have a huge range and we found them alot cheaper than anywhere around Dublin, they also give good advice on laying over UFH.

I got 7 inch planks in Brooks Thomas in Bluebell. Went for the antique oiled oak, wanted an old looking floor. Think they cost €3500 for 50 sq meters. Love them though.

hey griff im getting 7" flooring samples in a couple of days solid oak distressed type and a few others when i get them ill let you know what there like he is doing up a price as well.

Here you go....

Scotts Flooring in Baggot st
Ebony flooring
Deck Clad Salvage in Kingswood Cross

a solid plank maybe un-siuitable for underfloor heating, the solid variety may take a hell of alot of heat to penetrate the timber due to the thickness plus the instability issue. you should look at an engineered board, though you'll find a quallity engineered board just as expensive as a quallity solid one.

try www.terhuerne.de i fitted the product for a company in Little Island Co. Cork...Good Stuff
