Hi everyone,
I am about to move my DS into his own room but as its a small enough room I am afraid that he will have access to the window. The windows are lockable but we don't have any keys (they were missing when we bought the house) Anyone have any idea if window manufacturers could re-cut keys to fit?. I have no idea who the original manuf'r is
thanks guys

It is illegal to lock a bedroom window - fire regulations, that is why you have no keys for it.

You could have a restrictor fitted so that it will only open 100mm - regulations allow that now, but only in the last few years.

Oh I didn't realise that, Anything to stop him opening the window and falling out!, I will assume that window restrictors are available in most hardware stores?
Thanks for the info

In my new house we got keys on the windows so I'm not sure what the law is NHG but it is possible to buy a house with keys for the windows. The windows also have those restrictors on them.

Of course it is possible, but bedroom windows should have non locking handles. There are only a few different types of keys for window handles, so any neighbours etc may have the ones to fit your handles.

It always amazes me, as lately as last week when renewing my home insurance, it it one of the questions on the proposal form - all downstairs or easily accessable windows must have window locks.

Restrictors could be bought in woodies etc.
