Whats Better Disability allowance or Invaidlity pension

Due to Progressive medicial disease I will never earn a living again, I am 51, SW accept that The Senior Medical consultants involved, will never let me return to paid work, bur encourage communitity work un-paid

I normally would have went directly on to Invalidlity Pension, but I was self emoloyed for 13 Years on SI, with 18 A1 Contributions in 2009, I have been receiving A1 Credits since early July 2009

Should I stay on DA or apply for the pension
 
Invalidity Pension is not means-tested, and pays at a higher rate than DA.
Invalidity Pension is a taxable income, DA isn't listed as one.
