I got an invite to the BCM Hanby Wallace Open Evening for trainee solicitors for 2008. Just wondering if, come interview stage, it would be important to go to it or will it be very informal with hundreds of people there. Also, what would one wear to such an event, would full business dress be expected??
I agree with fla 100% and ignore Moriarty he's just having a "moment"
Also, try and go with a plan of action - are their certain seniors that you want to meet or talk to, or specific info that you want to get or a certain area you are interested in? Go and meet people, introduce yourself ask questions (the same ones to different people if necessary) and generally talk to as many people as possible - the people at BCM are proud of their company and are more than willing to talk to anyone ad nauseam about it
Treat the evening exactly as you would an interview. They will be forming an impression of you. Have your questions ready and if there is drink on offer do not start knocking them back even if the employees do. Accept a drink but nurse the same one all night. You can always have a few drinks to calm down after it. Good luck.
