I have recently received shares to the value of 700 euro from a maturing profit sharing scheme. I would like to keep these shares but I find the stock brokers annual fee prohibitively expensive. Do i have any other options or are there any cheap brokers with a low annual charge.

Re: shares

Did you check the charges in the best buys list? If you are planning to hold the shares long term and can get them in certificate form then you don't need a broker until it comes to selling them and you can store them somewhere safely (e.g. bank for safe keeping, home fireproof safe etc.) yourself.

Re: shares

they are a european company and dont issue share certificates

Re: shares

If you can only hold the shares electronically rather than in certificate form then you should still be able to transfer them to a personal CREST or broker nominee account. What exchange are they traded on? Not all brokers deal with shares on all European exchanges.
