I've been unemployed since November and today was offered a job. Its a temporary position for three months. The gross weekly salary will be approx €400.

I live with my partner (we're not married, no kids) and we both pay towards a mortgage. Considering I haven't used my tax credits for the year, how much tax should I expect to pay on this income?

The amount you earn will depend on various things, including your tax credits and cut-off point data, whether or not you have a full medical card and whether or not you have have had any taxable income since January 1 (I'm not sure whether Jobseekers allowance/ benefit is partially taxable).

You can try my calculator at http://taxcalc.eu/monthlyss to get a value.

Inputting the €400 per week and starting to earn on c. week # 20 suggests that you'll pay no PAYE, €10.91 per week in PRSI and €8 per week in income levy. This will leave you with a net pay of €381.09 per week.

By the way, you may be entitled to a tax refund for November and December of last year if you had paid tax in the months before losing your job - see this form:

http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/forms/p50.pdf

Your local social welfare office or tax office may be able to help with the procedure for that.

Hope this helps.
