What is time line from Signing contract to close?

I'm signing the contracts for my house tomorrow and I need some advice on what kind of time line I can expect i.e. when do I get the keys, what is an expected time from signing to closing (I'm hoping for three-four weeks as the vendors new house is empty and ready to move into), is there is anything else I should expect?

I have my mortgage arranged and am finalising my house insurance and life assurance now. Is there any gremlins in the works I should be looking out for.

Any help greatly appreciated.
 
Given that you have your life assurance and house insurance sorted out, three to four weeks seems reasonable. Your solicitor needs to check that your proposed closing date also suits the vendor. Have a read over your formal loan offer, preferably with your solicitor, to make sure that all the conditions on the loan offer have been met or in progress.
