what is the difference between quality assurance and quality management?

Hey i want to re-train myself can any one tell me what is the difference between quality assurance and quality management? Thanks.

Quality assurance refers to planned and systematic production processes that provide confidence in a product's suitability for its intended purpose.

Quality management is a step above that and has three main components: quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement.
 
Is it possibe to do a quality management course before a quality assurance course. It's just the management course is on in my area but the assurance course is at least 2 hours drive away. Would the quality management course further a carear on its own?
