what is included in deceased estate?

Hi, currently dealing with my late fathers estate and would like some advice as to what is usually included in a persons estate. I have started probate which is almost complete (without solicitor). There are many papers and documents at home which relate to his paid work and voluntary work. The organisation which he volunteered for are now looking for documents that they say he had and are now their property. Would I be right in assuming that if they are part of his estate then we have to wait for grant of probate or do we now have no responsibility to this organisation and can dispose of same (as per my fathers wishes) Any comments would be appreciated.

It's not clear what 'Probate is almost complete' means but if you have filled in the Personal Application form you will have seen what assets etc have to be advised. A call to the Personal Application section in the Probate Office will elicit any further information you require,
