I booked flights using my debit card ending 7833

I cancelled that card.

Now, I am cancelling the flights and getting a refund and got this message from BA

  • Your booking will be refunded to the credit/debit card used to pay for the initial booking: **************7833.
I can't find any way to contact BA to query this.

Will AIB know that 7833 was replaced by 8619?

Brendan

The question is, did you close the bank account the card was linked to?

Brendan.
I used my credit card to book tickets on Ticketmaster. Concert was subsequently cancelled. My CC had expired in the meantime and I was issued a fresh one with a different number. Ticketmaster refund arrived to my CC account without intervention from me.
On that basis I believe it should be seamless as your underlying account remains the same.

I imagine it could be tricky if you only had a card with a provider and had cancelled the account.

Maybe they'd issue a cheque in the circumstance.

I made a purchase on Amazon last year with a credit card. The price included a deposit for customs charges, if any.

About a month later i cancelled the credit card and got a new one - i forgot about the Amazon purchase as i had received the goods , no issues.

Four months after that i got a notification that the customs deposit had been refunded to my old credit card, which by now is long cancelled.

Two days later the refund arrived into my credit card account. As others have said, it is the account linked to the ccard that remains the same regardless of the card number used.
