Hi

I was just wondering what grant level i will qualify for, I am 22yo going into 2nd year in college, my parents are separated, my father is unemployed and my mother is self employed and is just about making ends meet. I still live with my mother but I will be living on campus for the college year.

I know I qualify for the non-adjacent grant as I do live more than 24km from the college, but some people say I will get the level 5 grant of €3,250 and others say that I will get the €6,355. I did have to repeat first year but I was never in receipt of a grant, I applied last year but I did not qualify because I was repeating. I just would like to know would I be closer to the level 5 or the level 6 because i will need to take out a student loan if I only get the level 5.

And also my sister will be attending college for the first time this year also.

Thanks so much, any help will be greatly appreciated

If I am been accepted to a post-graduate course which is on Friday evenings & saturday mornings would I be entitled to a mature student grant.

has information regarding a Higher Education Grants Scheme. Can anyone tell me if they have been approved for a postgraduate course which is only done on two days a week.

Or is it a case where a person applies for a part-time postgraduate course, where the fees are the same as a full-time post graduate course, but are not eligible for any grant assistance at all.

I have checked both the BETA forms & the HEA forms but they both eliminate post-graduate courses done on a part-time basis. This surely does not help an unemployed person looking to go back & further their studies, whilst still looking for work in the meantime, does it?
