what could be eating our shrubs?

Hi,

We've put a flower bed at the end of our garden and a lot of the plants seem to keep being eaten by something.

We planted two in particular last year and neither are flowering much and the leaves all look eaten. Also, one pot of flowers I have on the wall also looks as bad.

Any help would be welcome cause I've no idea what's at them.

Caterpillars, slugs, vampire bats on veggie diets?

If you could post a picture, it could tell a lot more.
