What career/management books have you read?

My own view is that 90% of the genre is essentially Dr. Phil-esque waffle, but I would confess to being a bit of a fan of the other 10%. It's interesting and useful sometimes to hear somebody talk about a technique or style which you probably use yourself day-to-day. Also as one isn't always blessed with the Perfect Boss, they can contain useful advice about dealing with difficult situations. For example the "One Minute Reprimand" technique from Blanchard's "The One Minute Manager" was a big help to me when I started managing people.

I would recommend books such as TOMM and "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" (Stephen R. Covey). Believe it or not I thought Clinton's "My Life" contained very interesting insights into the guy's management style and I learned a lot from it also.

Am considering buying "Winning" by Jack Welch, any opinions on this? No I have not read "Penny Apples"...
