Welfare Fraud

Hiya,

I just need some advice, I have an investment property, it was rented to a single female and her 2 kids.

Any time I am in the property (every few months) there is always 1 male living there (which I cant prove). I am either introduced to them as 'husband' or 'friend'.

The Welfare were paying the rent. These are always different males. The tenant has now vacated the property.

There is a huge amount of post arriving from the welfare in different names. None of these names are on the lease.

Should I do something about this? And if so how do I got about it?

Al

If there's a return address on the envelopes then just mark them "return to sender". The mail will be sent back to Dept of Social & Family Affairs and will eventually end up with the CWO who covers the area (if it has been issued by them in the first place).

Alternatively, you could contact either the Community Welfare Officer or Superintendent CWO for your area (you should find contact information at your local health centre) and they can pursue the matter.

I had something similar & marked the ones with the registered tenant name "no longer at this address" and any I didn't know the name of "never resident at this address"

Hopefully the CWO might look closer at them in future!!
