Welfare entitlements for injury to a self employed worker

I have worked as a taxi driver for the past 18 years. Recently i was injured and have been unable to work. Am I entitled to any financial support from the state ? I have a wife and children. At this stage I have spent what little reserves I have.

You may be entitled to Supplementary Welfare Allowance (SWA), which is administered by Community Welfare Officers based at health centres.
