week 1 basis

Hi,

I started a new job last week. I handed in my P45 on my first day. I have been on jobseekers since January 2012 until now. Today i got my payslip and I am on week 1 when I thought I might be on emergency tax. Would anyone have any idea why the revenue would have put me on this. I have never been on it before.

you probably shouldnt be -- but its not emergency tax and if your wages are anyway regular probably doesnt make any difference

just ring your tax office and ask them to change it -- go to revenue.ie and bottom right you can search for contact details using your pps number

If you provide your new employer with a P45 from your previous employer, they are supposed to put you on a week one basis. Once they register the details of the P45 online with ROS, the cumulative tax cert usually follows within a couple of days.
