But as far as I understand it, the guys who host our service, Nimbus, are just switching us from one piece of hardware to another - bigger and faster. I don't think users will see any difference. (Unless there is a problem and it goes down.)
Boards.ie used the vBulletin package on a hosted server and switched to Vanilla, a completely different package hosted in the cloud.
We switched from vBulletin to Xenforo in 2011.
