Hello

We are having a problem with our water . the water tanks in the attic will only fill at Night . On Saturday evening we had no water for showers etc. Tank filled over night , when pressure is higher.
Mains water is getting into the house , Plumber said water pressure was ok , a bit low , but not sure why the problem

I have spoke nto both neigbours and they said all is ok with their water .

The stop cock under the skin is stuck , but plumber said this should not stop the the tanks from filling

Any advice would be much appreciated . Should I get the pressure check by the Council . I think this is about €127

First off, check to make sure your ballcock isn't partially blocked or stuck, it is filling slowly and overnight, when there is no water demand can fill the tank.

During the day, high water demand doesn't give it a chance to replenish.

Had your plumber checked this?

I think Davy Jones is correct in that ballcock in tank is probably blocked. I had an issue in my house when purchased where the ball cock arm had rotated within the tank to horizontal and the water was not coming in. Installation was poor and water was just dripping in constantly and when tank went low, took along time to fill and when it went high just overflowed thru overflow line

The plumber checked the ballcock , said it was fine . He also checked for blockage saw no problems , Spoke to a second plumber , he thinks it may be due to the stop cock been seized .
Dublin corporation tells me no problem s, have been reported in the area

The stop cock may be stuck half way between open and closed ot the washer may have come off the spindle, if the neighbours are not having problems then get it replaced, worst case its handy in case of an emergency.
