water pressure

I bought some Victorian mixer taps recently, but the water pressure from them is only a trickle. [The pressure from the original 'standard ones' was quite good. ] To turn the tap from off to fully on only requires a rotation of 90 degrees ie a quarter of a full turn. Is there any solution apart from putting the old ones back on?

some new taps only have 8mm pipe into them, whereas old had 12mm, big differance,no easy solution, except for pressure pump which to buy and fit would be well over 200e

Is the cold ok and the hot poor?

Many of the taps we get here are from main land Europe where high pressure systems are the norm. Here we have low pressure systems.

They build flow restrictors into the taps and our pressure suffers as a result. I have not found a way to remove restrictors.

Hot and cold are both bad, the flow from the tap is very poor, but when you switch to the shower head its only a trickle!

I've got a similar problem with the hot water part of the mixer tap in the kitchen - it's a high pressure tap with quarter turn only. Had a plumber take a look at it last week to discuss options, and his recommended solution is to replace the tap with a full-turn tap. No pressure problems with cold water.
