hello, just wondering if anyone would be able to tell me what to check here.

For the past few days my cold water tank has been very slowly refilling..tricking in really. The small tank on top for heating will fill up very rapidly if i push down on the ball cock. If I push down on the ball cock on the cold water tank it makes no difference..it still trickles.

Am I dealing with a limescale problem on the connector on the inside of the cold water tank?

many thanks,

turn the water off at the tape, go back to the tamk take apart the ball cock, you will find a needle sized hole in the top part of it somewhere this will have a small piece of grit in it blocking it.. thats usually the prob.. worth a try

Thanks for that bluemac. I'll give that a go. I take it I have to take off the whole connection on the inside? Many thanks for your idea. I'll post back how I get on.

It's unlikely to be limescale if the symptom developed quickly. What type of water supply are you on? Your own well, public supply, etc.?

With the current weather, some of your neighbours may be leaving taps on in the hope of preventing pipes freezing.

Hi Leo, it was limescale. The ballcock hasn't been replaced in 11 years. Has since been replaced and working fine. The problem occurred before the cold weather.
