just to warn you on something that nearly happened to us. We got a survey done with a surveyor for a house in west dublin(we found him in the golden pages). The engineer gave an OK report only missing a few details for 300 euro. He told us he'd also do a valuation for 80 extra and that he did valuations for 5 banks AIB, BOI, PTSB, First Active. He forget to take notes that day so told us he'd call out again for 100 euro to do a valuation. We decided that as we were going with PTSB who were charging us 127 euro it would still work out cheaper to use him. But I first rang PTSB to check that he was on their valuation panel.....he wasn't!
Moral is if a surveyor says he does valuations for banks, ring the bank first to check!
