Hi Folks,
We want to paint our Doors, Skirtings & Architraves a cream shade.
I dont like gloss paint on wood. The Doors & Architraves would have been sanded and varnished in the past along with skirtings. House is old but doors, skirtings, architraves were replaced 10 years ago. They are all just varnished. The original door frames/jams are the existing ones from 20 years ago i hate them.... please suggest a cream paint that we can use to get rid of the old dirty look.
Somebody suggested it would be easier get a painter in to sand and prep all the wooden areas and then go for a colourtrend paint!!!!!!Help. We may not be able to afford a painter how tricky can it be?? whats preparation is involved??Please suggest a type of paint but not a gloss finish. Hope I make sense?
Thanks

Most paints are now available in a Satin or Satin wood finish. I used this on skirting and doors inmy house as didnt want gloss.

Its not hard to do yourself but as with all painting jobs-preparation is key.

Would advise sanding down/stripping all surfaces first. Then a coat of primer/undercoat. Some people use a product called binbond.

Then ready to be painted whatever colour you want.

If you see a paint colour you like, get a sample of it (it doesnt matter if its gloss or emulsion). Most decorators stores will be able to match the paint and give it to you either in Satin, Gloss or Emulsion
