Since when it is an offence to have the stubs of a couple of broken off aerials on the roof of you car
 
Since when is it more of a press issue to impersonate a Garda than to have a whole file of child pornography in your possession?
 
I used to drive a banged up Ford Mondeo. It was great; I used to get waved through police traffic checks with a nod and a smile and on more than one occasion drivers on mobiles threw their mobile phones into the passenger foot-well when they saw me.

Needless to say I never impersonated an unmarked police car by sticking a few extra aerials onto the roof.

Run up 300,000 miles on the clock and don't have any tax/insurance/NCT disk, stick on a couple of broken aerials, sideswipe a gate and ditch the alloys.
 
A buddy of mine used to impersonate a Garda regularly to get free-in to nighclubs. It took some neck as he wasn't the tallest (pardon the pun), but never seen him fail!

Keep the tax disc, lose the insurance one if you want to be authentic.

A friend of mine claims to have impersonated a Garda to get onto the Garda 'team' in the riot at Slane on the night before the Bob Dylan gig - 1983? He used to carry a Garda baton in his car, so he took out the baton and joined in the 'fun' of beating up a few rockers and hippies.
 
On a regular basis on the N11 you see the tosser flying along at speed on the bus lane in his Ford Mondeo. Whether he is a garda or not he is still a tosser because he drives dangerously.
 
I tried impersonating a plain clothes garda yesterday, but no one took a blind bit of notice of me.
