Waiting a year to get children's allowance

We moved back from the UK last year. As our son was born in the UK, he is entitled to get social welfare there or here, so we kept up the UK one until the Irish one came through.

We applied here in September 2008, the UK were contacted in October 2008 and cancelled our child benefit there. They said that Ireland would either pay us from then or let them know and they could give us payments for any of the months that we did not receive payments here.

Anyway a year later and nothing. I eventually got through to the office in Letterkenny a month ago (our local social welfare office said we would just have to wait). The guy dealing with it said that he had been waiting for the UK to get back to him with a reimbursement request since November 2008. I said that they obviously didn't know that he was waiting for anything and could he get on to them again.

He apologised and said I could email him anytime etc. Well I've emailed twice and the line to the office is always engaged. Does anyone have any advice?
 
Getting info. from UK will probably take more than a month. Just EM every week or so and ask for an update.
 
I just got through on the phone and seemingly the guy I had been emailing got a promotion and hasn't been dealing with his post (??). The form came back from the UK has been on his desk for two weeks. He is now going to deal with his post according to the guy I was talking to!!!!

I'd say you misheard/misunderstood; The guy who got promoted is hardly doing the same job now or even in the same section, not to mind same desk! What happened is that he got promoted and his position is not being filled due to moratorium on PS posts; therefore, the post/queires etc are lying there until somebody elese deals with them.
