VW Golf or VW Jetta

I have been looking at both a VW Golf and VW Jetta. The Golf is 1.4 and Jetta 1.6. From a future resale point of view, which is the better car to go for. I know previously that the Boras were always worth a loss less than the Golf's because the demand just wasnt there and I am wondering if people would feel the same about the Jetta

The dealer also offered me a trade in value of €10,800 against the Golf and €11,200 against the Jetta for a Peugeot 307 LX 2004 1.4 (2 Dr.) with 11,000 mls. Any ideas if this is a fair price.

Would imagine the Jettas will go the same way as the Boras. I recently read one of Jeremy Clarkson's review of the Jetta in the Sunday Times - he absolutely slated it. Personally, I think I would go for the Golf over the Jetta (if you have ruled out the Passat). I would imagine the Golf will hold it value better.

Am in the same situation myself but have been buying Golf with over 25 years ,had 1 jetta and 1 bora in that time so I think that speaks volumes .Will probably go for Golf but have to say I like new Jetta
