I heard that VRT on a Campervan is 50 euro flat rate, same as classic cars?, is this right?
and what’s the government’s definition of a campervan? i.e. bed, cooker, fridge etc. I wonder could it be used as a loop hole (hope no one in the VRT office is looking at this!)
I wonder has someone tried to bring in a BMW X5 or equivalent and put a portable fridge and cooker in the back!!

any thoughts?

Absolutely no chance. To qualify for the flat rate the vehicle must be over 3t and must have fixed fridge, cooker, water, etc . . . not temporary fittings.

So, do VW transporter SWB conversions fit into this category? Don't know the exact weight of them. There is a far better choice over in the UK, and I wasn't aware they might be exempt from import duty? Any ideas?!

not too sure about the weight issue, but most average cars weigh between 1 to 2 tons so one would assume a VW transporter would be over that at least.

i do know that road tax is a fixed price of 78 euro!
