I heard that VRT on a Campervan is 50 euro flat rate, same as classic cars?, is this right? and what’s the government’s definition of a campervan? i.e. bed, cooker, fridge etc. I wonder could it be used as a loop hole (hope no one in the VRT office is looking at this!) I wonder has someone tried to bring in a BMW X5 or equivalent and put a portable fridge and cooker in the back!!
Absolutely no chance. To qualify for the flat rate the vehicle must be over 3t and must have fixed fridge, cooker, water, etc . . . not temporary fittings.
So, do VW transporter SWB conversions fit into this category? Don't know the exact weight of them. There is a far better choice over in the UK, and I wasn't aware they might be exempt from import duty? Any ideas?!
not too sure about the weight issue, but most average cars weigh between 1 to 2 tons so one would assume a VW transporter would be over that at least.
i do know that road tax is a fixed price of 78 euro!
