If a public servant whose pension is based on final salary takes a lower paid job in the public service, does their pension reduce. It seems as though it would - or does it get complicated, do they get two pensions etc.
Let's say someone worked full time for 35 years in a grade paying 80,000 then took a demotion and worked full time for 5 years in a grade paying 30,000 then retired. Is their pension now 40/80ths of 30k.
So if you job shared in the last three or five years is it the job sharing salary i.e. half annual salary at your grade that is taken into consideration for your entire pension.
No, pension for worksharers is based on full time salary. Reckonable service accumulates more slowly for worksharers - a person working a 50% pattern would accumulate 6 months service every 12 months.
