Voluntary class 2 eligibility letter

HmRC give you class 2 or 3 but then ring and check with DWP which years will benefit you - you might not need all 17/18 - I sent a sterling cheque and a recorded delivery letter detailing which years DWP said i needed for full pension- wait time is 50 weeks for me - think they're dealing with those closest the pension age first. I started this process nearly two years ago - alot has changed things might easier on-line but pen and paper was the way back then for overseas

Evening all, I'm in the process of getting my class 2 contribution to HMRC, their letter advises to quote my Nat Ins when sending payment, I have had additional advice to add the following IC (for Insurance Contributions)followed by my surname and first letter of my Forename, likely to prevent payment going to wrong account..
:)
apologies meant to ask can this be done thru banking on line, set up as a new payee, or is sending a sterling cheque better, maybe I am over thing it, it took so long to get this far, don't want to fall at the last hurdle if you get my drift.....

I set up an international payee in Bank Of Ireland and then had to wait 48 hours before I could send the GBP payment. Was very easy. Only paid last week so haven’t rung yet to confirm they got it. Will leave it a few weeks before I call.

When you make the payment, there is a box to enter the reason for payment - you can put the reference number here

Evening all,

As previously posted (and referenced in the Key Posts) the system changed in 2016 & the para is included to CYA.
