Vodafone mobile internet charges

've been looking at my online bill and I came across a data
transfer which was all of 904kBytes and it has been charged
(on my pay monthly package) at 6.57Euro before VAT !

I've been looking at the various data charges listed on Vodafone's
website and trying to figure out more economical ways of
doing internet data transfers.

My phone is a k800i and I've setup the default app and Java
internet preferred APN to be isp.vodafone.ie as opposed to
live.vodafone.com. Am I right to be assuming that vodafone
live APN won't be any good for doing regular http based
data transfers ? Opera mini (for example) won't download pages
for me if the internet/data account settings are set to
vodafone live APN.

The pricing listed at:

seems to imply that it is possible to do browsing to non Vodafone
live pages and still keep your daily bill to under 99c assuming
you don't overshoot a daily 50MB limit.

Can anyone explain why I would have logically have been charged
over 7Euro for less than 1MB of data ? What benefits am I getting
by having chosen isp.vodafone.ie over vodafone live ?

I'll obviously talk to vodafone customer service about this but
perhaps I have a fundamental misunderstanding of the data
services pricing structure so I thought I'd air it hear first to see
if I'm making any rash assumptions.

Have the K800 myself and just use the vodafone live APN.
Opera mini works fine and I can browse on other sites, however I do have occasional problems with this APN, it sometimes times out and have trouble with secure sites i.e. https, so can find it a little frustrating.
I have only got Opera mini to work successfully in the last few weeks though!
I downloaded the google maps for the mobile recently and is ideal with the vodafone live APN as it seems to download alot of data although this application is more or a gimmick for me as I don't use it seriously.
The only advantage I can see with isp.vodafone.ie is that you can browse the internet from a laptop connected to your phone with this APN, however when you see the charges you would need very deep pockets to do any real browsing although I see you can get a data bundle such as 15MB for 10 euro but again 15MB is not alot.

I use ther Vodafone live APN on my E65 with Oprea mini/Gmail app and Google maps.

All work fine for me.

However I sent an e-mail using one of the other APN's the other day and it cost around €10 before VAT - not doing that again

The vodafone link above referres to using the Live APN only.
Get onto vodafone and explain that their website does not explain this and they may refund the charges from the isp.vodafone.ie APN - they did for me - but pretend to be unsure how why you incurred the charges
