Does the coverage on your vodafone mobile usually determine how good or bad a Vodafone 3G Broadband modems speed would be, or has one nothing to do with the other?

I ask the question because I live in an area which has appaling reception on my vodafone mobile but I have borrowed a modem for a couple of weeks and I'm quite happy with the speed.

Don't think matters to be honest.

I'm on vodafone and always find the reception fine but I got a mobile modem at the weekend and not impressed, takes ages to get on the internet and even longer in between to get into different pages.
deffo its going back!!!

Called into a vodafone shop yesterday and asked the above question. The girl in the shop was baffled that one did not correspond with the other. She thought there might be something wrong with my sim, but my phone works fine everywhere else and anyone who uses a vodafone mobile in the house is in the same boat as me.

So vodafones line is that one should correlate with the other but obviously ci1 that isn't the case.

If your mobile phone is non-3G ie. GSM then they are on compeletely differenet networks so it makes sense that they will have better coverage. Mobile broadband over 3G works better the less people use so the bandwidth will go down as it becomes more popular.
