Has anyone installed Service Pack 1 for Vista Home Premium yet ?

Has it had any impact on your performance ?

I need to back up my stuff before I go ahead and install it but just wondering what the comsensus so far is...

I would leave it for now, based on this link I read earlier today!

Opening a folder with 1000 subfolders each containing 1000 items on NTFS (benchmarks performed by APC for April issue).

Windows NT: 12 seconds (Pentium 100 w/ 64Mb RAM, NTFS)
Windows XP: 5 seconds (AMD 2800 w/ 768 Mb RAM, NTFS)
Windows Vista: 15 seconds (Intel Core Duo 2300 w/ 3 Gb RAM, NTFS)
Windows Vista SP1: 18 seconds (Intel Core Duo 2300 w/ 3 Gb RAM, NTFS)

Progress?

If you can put up with a slower pc then it's fine. But you need tonnes of memory to use Vista as I experieced.

I don't think its solely a memory issue. Vista is slow at doing simply things for no good reason. Bad coding pure and simple. Its Windows ME II in my opinion.

That's true aircobra, I wonder if there'll be a VistaLite/TinyVista out soon similar to the XP version with all the garbage ripped out.

that might be better to use. For me anyway.

If you use Windows update you've already got most of the service pack. Don't think installing the rest will make a lot of difference tbh.

I installed it on a fresh install of Vista. I'm not noticing anything different either. But the fresh install of Vista seems faster than I remembered it.
