Virus/ Spyware- AntiSpyware 2008

Hi,

My PC got infected with numerous pop up ad viruses at the weekend. I had no anti virus software.

I downloaded numerous free web based ones such as AVG, Nortons, Bitdefender etc. These all told me I had a few infections but said they had been resolved.

One of the software downloads I used, AntiSpyware 2008 says I have over 300 infected files, but I am suspicious that this may be a virus/spyware itself. The logo is a colourful shield with a kind of mask on it? Has anycome come across this before?

My PC is running very slow and I don't want to purchase software on the net in case the computer is still infected and my details could be read.

I have just posted a reply to PM1234 re a trojan zlob.
The same advise would apply to you if you want to have a look.
If the computer is still acting strangely, it might or might not be an infection: but you need to treat it as such, until you are sure it is not..You can usually sort out these problems using free-ware, so you don't need to enter credit card details on the web.

I got Kaspersky's Int Secuerity 7 and it found and deleted trojan zlob. My laptop is running much faster.

a point to note is that you should only ever have one AV running on your system at any one time ,having two or more will generally cause problems such as running slow/freezing etc
