What is under the vinyl wrap in vinyl wrapped kitchen doors - is it just chipboard or mdf?

What are the pros and cons of Solid wooden doors over vinyl wrapped doors for kitchen presses

Thanks

It'll be mdf under the wrap. Solid doors will last longer and take more punishment than the wrapped variety. Once the wrap starts to peel, there isn't much can be done bar replace.

HI,
The vinyl wrap doors are alot better than they were years ago. They are cheaper, easier to clean and will take light punishment and should easily last 10 years +.
The solid doors are more expensive, will mark easier , will fade or darken depending on conditions, but that said it should still look as good in 20 years time.

Leo's post +1 but the price of solid doors at the moment are on the floor.BUY SOLID BUY NOW

Just a one off experience, but a friend of mine paid big money four years ago for a top of the line foil wrapped kitchen. The doors are now peeling, particularly those close to the oven and hob, and they're faced with replacing it.

Solid doors can be re-finished down the line. A few chips or scratches can add a little character over time. With foil wrapped, once the foil seal is broken, the underlying MDF will start to absorb moisture and expand.

There may be more choice in terms of colour and style for vinyl wrapped compared to solid wood... otherwise the same as above.
