My parents, both in their late 80s and now in a nursing home are paying over €5,000 for a Healthplus Extra plan. I can’t see what they are getting for it as they seem to fall into the public system anyway. They were both transferred to Beaumont hospital with COVID earlier this month and spent the day on trolleys in the COVID ward before being transferred back to the nursing home at 4 o’clock in the morning. My Dad then had to be transferred again with high blood sugars (Type 2 Diabetic) this week and had to wait over a day on a trolley in A&E just to be brought back to the nursing home again. Now that they have to pay the nursing home costs they simply can’t afford this Policy and I’m wondering if keeping them on any plan is going to benefit them?
