VHI VHI Claim

Looking for a view here.

I was insured with VHI until December 2014 and in May 2013 I incurred medical expenses of €300 that were covered under my policy.

For various reasons I only got around to making a claim recently and VHI has written back to me rejecting my claim stating "the time restriction for claiming the receipts submitted has been exceeded".

Are they within their rights to dismiss my claim on these grounds?

I stress, I was fully insured and covered for these expenses with VHI at the time they occurred.

Appreciate any opinions people might have.

It states quite clearly on their website that all claims must be submitted within 3 months of the end of the subscription year - which would have been the end of March 2014.
I have a policy with the Hospital Saturday Fund (a cash back on day to day expenses) and any claims have to be submitting within 6 months of the date of treatment.
