Vet's bills in Dublin

I have just paid an eyewatering sum to have my dog treated at my local vet in Blackrock, Dublin. This is twice what a relative in Kilkenny pays and three times what a relative in Belfast pays. Can anyone recommend a more affordable vet's practice in Dublin? Alternatively I am seriously considering taking a day off work to get him his check up an a vet in a rural area each year.

You might get some advice or recommendations from this previous thread.

As a matter of interest what treatment did the dog get and how much did it cost? Everyone says these days that its dearer to visit the vet with the animals than it is to go yourself to the G.P. especially when so many of the vets have gone corporate.
