Vendors name not on house deeds

We have just been informed by our solicitor that the vendors name are not on the house deeds. From what we know the vendor signed contracts to buy the house in 2006 but their name was never put on the deeds. Our solicitor is looking into the reasons for this but we would like to know of any possible explanations why this would have happened.. Has this happened to anyone before?

Maybe for some reason or other registration was not completed at the time. Your solicitor should be able to clarify matters
