Hi,
I’m looking for a web development course to cover vb.net 2005 with Oracle + IIS. I don’t want to just get a book or do an online course. I’m open to either day or evening and the course doesn’t have to be in Ireland. I previously attended a course with Software Paths in Dublin that supposedly covered all this but it was complete rubbish. The instructor was very unsure of the material and it ended up being a drap and drop without little actual vb.net programming. Has anyone used IACT or Horizon or attended a course say in the UK.

Has anyone else found a real shortage of good quality .NET training courses in Ireland?

Thank you

The MCPD course is pretty good - can choose either vb.net or c#.
It won't cover the Oracle side of things but will give you a good grounding in .net 2.0 and basic intro to IIS.
I don't think theres a .NET 3.5 version of the course available yet in Dublin but could be mistaken.
Not sure if FAS are still running the MCPD course as part of the One Step Up Programme. If they are and your company agrees to sponsor you, FAS contribute 70% of the course cost.It covers web, windows, webservices and the .NET framework/architecture.
MoreSoft and New Horizons both were running this course though only the MoreSoft one was instructor led.
It takes about 6 months (22-24 days) to complete but you are working towards your MCP accreditation so takes the best part of a year by the time you sit all the exams.
I would'nt recommend this course if you are a programming novice as its fairly advanced - it would be more suited to a vb / java developer looking to learn .NET.
