VAT Refund on Wedding Abroad

Hi,
Hopefully this will be a fairly straight forward question...

We got married in Malta in September and last week received a VAT receipt from the hotel. It made me wonder if we are entitled to a VAT refund on the wedding.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

unless your marriage was a business arrangement i fail to see how you could be due a refund!

I dread to think what VAT you already claim for in your returns if you think VAT on a hotel for your wedding which was held abroad is reclaimable

Incidentally VAT is not claimable on a hotel stay in Ireland even if the stay is for business purposes
