Vat on Solicitors Fees

Minor matter here

I am in the process of buying my first home and just received an invoice from my solicitor for fees and outlay. No problem

However, my solicitor is insisting on charging me vat on the following outlays:
Search Fees and Commisioners Fees.

I queried this, and was told theyd "been doing that for years"

Now granted this is not going to break me, but i reckon the money might as well stay in my pocket than go to the Revenue.
Just wondering has anyone else been charged vat on these outlays.

Revenue.ie website has a guideline on this and says they are not subject to Vat but its an old paper (2001/02) so i dunno if the rules have changed.

Thanks for any views

Any quotes I have received lately only include VAT on the fee and the admin expenses-not on the other outlay (separately).

The law searchers charge VAT on their service and this should be included in the overall figure. In relation to the other outlay, do you mean commissioner for oaths fees?

Thanks guys

It just says "Paid Commisioners Fees" so i presume its Commisioner for Oath Fees.
