Vat on Charitable donations

We sell greeting cards and a vat registered company. With one of our products we would like to donate 100% of the sales of this item to charity as it's a frontline based card. Can I ask do we still have to give the vat on the sale of this item to revenue?

If you sell something you must charge VAT.

What you do with the proceeds is irrelevant to the VAT issue.
