Utility Bills (House Sharing)

2 people each renting rooms in house.

Each pay landlord deposit.

One leaves without paying utility bills - this is now bewteen the landlord and the guy that has left.

Now the landlord wants to put the utility bills specifically in the name of the remaining tennant.

Is this allowed?

If the landlord rents out the other room - what is the situation then?

Do you have a lease?
If the lease is your name he can’t move someone in without your approval.
Don’t forget it’s a renters market now. Have a look around you may get a better deal.

I think that the remaining tenant shouldn't take on the other half of the utility bill, assuming the landlord manages to rent the other room.
