Using a debit card / credit card abroad

Hi there,

I'm going to spending a few months abroad shortly (outside of EU) and looking to figure out best way for paying for things or withdrawing cash.
AIB charges sheet suggests ~3.5% of every ATM withdrawl will be the fee which seems excessive.
2.5% currency conversion fee & 1% cash withdrawl commission.

Any other recommendations out there if going overseas for a number of months?

Thanks,

Open a N26 account, ideally something like N26 "you" which comes without any conversion fees at all (free ATM withdrawals worldwide). Has some monthly costs though, and you need to sign up for a year IIRC.

Revolut premium does offer similar.

I've used Revolut successfully, only thing to keep an eye on is very limited cash withdrawal limit, but in most places you just decide not to withdraw cash and tap and go. Very easy to top up the app too. Will be using it this week in the UK.
