Unpaid tax Share options 2009

I sold shares in October 2009 and assumed I did not have to pay tax until my form 11 tax return before 31st October 10. The amount I owe is about 12K. I have the money - so I jut send the cheque when returning the form? Will there be penalties???

You may have a liability to income tax on share option gain at your marginal rate of tax due within 30 days of exercise dpepnding on typr of share option.

If Capital Gain on sale of shares CGT due by 15th December in year of disposal.

Interest may be charged on late payment of tax. Surcharge if tax return filed late.
