Unpaid Bill

Hi All,

I had my house rented up until last year.

The tenants left an unpaid bill with Airtricity and I am now receiving letters from an debt collector addressed to "the landlord" asking for payment. They say legal proceedings will be taken and my credit rating could be affected. Is this true and what, if anything, can I do about this?

Thanks

AFAIK this is NOT your bill. The same happened to me with ESB & I rang the company explaining that the tenant left without clearly covering the bill. They told me if would not affect me as it wasnt my bill.. they asked for a meter reading which i gave and the bill from then on came in my name.

If it's not in your name it's not your responsibility.

Get your solicitor to respond to them.
