I am planning on moving to Ireland (am a British Citizen) to live with my wife. Currently I am doing a PhD for which I earn a tax free bursary in England. I am hoping to travel between Ireland and England perhaps weekly or bi-weekly. I was wondering if I reside in Ireland for over 6 months, would this studentship which is tax free in England be taxed in Ireland?

Have a look here -

Edit: Having had a look at the relevant provisions in both the Irish & Uk tax acts, they are similar enough that I don't see how you could qualify for exemption in the UK and not in Ireland.

By the way, just happening to spend over 183 days in Ireland in a particular year won't necessarily make you tax resident here anyway.
