UK Equities

I have some spare cash to put into equities at the moment and I was wondering what the general consensus was on the UK equity markets. I have read conflicting reports about the outlook for blue chip versus growth stocks. Some say that the FT100 is practically where it was 7 years ago. Others say that the bluechip earnings cycle is peaking and that growth stocks have relatively underperformed in a thriving economy. Any views?

This is true. The FTSE 100 peaked at 6,930 on 30/12/99. Currently stands 4.5% lower at 6,615.
