UFH: Pipes vs. Matt

If anyone can help... we asked for standard UFH Water pipes under 65mm screed. Guy is now talking about using 'fast track' system- pipes in a plywood directly under the floor, no screed?
Help- don't know if this is okay?

the point of the screed is that it makes the floor act as a big radiator which retains and slowly releases heat sometimes for days after the heating is off. the idea being suggested to you sounds rubbish.

Okay thanks for that. That's what I was thinking too.
And then on top of it- for about 500sq ft he quoted 10k.
End of, we're going with a different supplier.

Thanks
Michelle.

I assume you are talking about upstairs using this system? If you don't have hollowcore then it can be done this way.

But the screed is the way to go, as it stores the heat like a radiator.

i put it in myself - rehau pipe/manifold system with heatmiser electronics
6 port manifold and enough pipe for 1000 sq ft bought from heatmerchants
total cost 2600 plus about three days work and im not a plumber.

Thanks guys- no it was for ground floor in a new build.
This has just given me zero confidence in him. I have 2 other suppliers arriving for quotes tmrw and told him see ya!
Sounds like total madness
