Hi,

We have just seen a natural gas balanced flue stove for a very good price, ex display model, problem is it's green and we would rather any other colour. We were originally looking for an ivory one but would settle for black it this isn't possible.

Anyone ever successfully painted one and what type of paint is recommended?

It's a cast iron painted stove not enammeled.

Thanks.

Hi - i would think twice about painting a cast iron stove. I have a black cast iron stanley gas stove which I love. In the spring of this year I applied baby oil to buff the metal (advice given to me by the installer no less). Not a good idea..... Once the stove was turned on the smell of burning baby oil filled the whole house. I would imagine any kind of paint would do likewise as the stove gets seriously hot - so hot its hard to imagine any kind of paint or sealer holding up to that kind of heat.

Sanne,

Is your stove natural gas or solid fuel? I would have thought that once the paint was especially for stoves (used by stove manufacturers) it should be ok
? Get what you mean about the smell of baby oil though, good point.
